A former lecturer of Kaduna State University, John Danfulani, has regained freedom after spending two weeks in prison for alleged hate speech.
A High Court in Kaduna remanded Danfulani in prison in January after he posted a Facebook comment on December 28, where he condemned the contemporary culture in Northern Nigeria.
In the comment, he said the culture is responsible for the widespread poverty of the northerners.
"Driving home. My 13 days ordeal in Kaduna prison ended some minutes ago.Thanking comrades for their support," Danfulani posted on Twitter Monday, November 7.
The lecturer was suspended from the university before he was handed over to the law enforcement for prosecution.
