Blame Ali Ndume for SGF’s problems – Senator says

Babacir Lawal

The spokesman of the Senate, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi has said that Senator Ali Ndume should be blamed for the problem that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal is facing.

According to Daily Post, Abdullahi said it was Ndume and Baba Kaka Garbai that raised a motion in the Upper Chamber saying the condition of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) is getting worse.
He said it was based on their motion, that the Senate unanimously ordered that the matter be probed.
Abdullahi  said “Senators Ali Ndume and Baba Kaka Garbai are the genesis of SGF’s problems. They sponsored a motion that contracts awarded by FG, through presidential initiative were not executed and we went into action.
“It was our resolution based on the motion that led to ‎Senator Shehu Sani’s Ah-hoc Committee on humanitarian crisis in the North east which eventually uncovered fraudulent practices.”
The Senate’s spokesman also shed more light on why the confirmation of the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu was rejected.
According to him, “I am the official spokesman of the Senate, and I have here with me, resolutions of the Senate and I want to quote ‎myself, which I think some of you still have my voice, that the Senate has rejected nomination of Ibrahim Magu as EFCC chairman.”
Abdullahi also dismissed Ndume’s comment that the Senate did not reject Magu’s confirmation, saying ” If the Senate leader has granted an interview dissenting to what I am saying, well he might have been misquoted, but as a spokesman, you journalists should be guided.”
Senator Ali Ndume, on Monday, December 19, 2016, told newsmen after a closed door meeting with President Buhari that the Senate suspended the EFCC boss’ confirmation till all issues raised against him are resolved.
