InEnugu: 100 chickens recovered from poultry thieves

The Enugu state police have recovered 100 stolen chickens and arrested three in connection with the theft.

About a 100 chickens and a bus have been recovered by the Enugu state police from some suspects who broke into a poultry at Ugwuomu Nike in Enugu State.

The information was disclosed on Wednesday, November 30, by the Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, who said that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the crime, Punch reports.
Amaraizu stated that the 100 chicken were recovered out of the 150 stolen from the poultry by the suspects.
The birds were reportedly retrieved by police operatives of the Emene Division of the command.
He said, “The three suspects are now being interrogated for allegedly breaking into a poultry located at Ugwuomu Nike in Enugu in the midnight of Nov. 17, stealing and carting away chicken in the poultry numbering about 150.”
Punch reports that the suspects, who gave their names as Sunday John and Uchenna Igoka, were reportedly arrested on November 23 at their hideout located at Orjinator village in Oji River community and were apprehended based on intelligence information on their activities.
He added, “It was further gathered that following their arrest and revelation, one Onyeka Edeh, was also arrested.
“While manhunt has been intensified with a view to arresting the fleeing members of the gang.”
According to Amaraizu, the suspects who have been pleading for forgiveness, blamed their acts on the devil and hardship.
They are currently helping the police with their investigation.
